Hirad Daneshvar

I am a Research Assistant (Ph.D. Candidate in Computer Engineering) at Toronto Metropolitan University supervised by Dr. Reza Samavi working on applications of Deep Learning in Healthcare. I am part of the Trustworthy AI Lab (TAILab). Currently I am conducting research on Deep Learning applications in the healthcare domain and some trustworthiness aspects of the models. More specifically, I am focusing on mental health outcome prediction using Deep Learning, working closely with researchers from McMaster University, and clinicians/experts from both Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) and University of British Columbia (UBC). I have worked on the calibration and uncertainty quantification of the model.
I have experience with several programming languages such as Python, PHP, JavaScript, etc. I have 5+ years of experience as a Full-Stack/Back-end and Database Developer working with relational and NoSQL databases. This experience taught me to work both individually and in teams. I have also taught programming and software architecture courses at Toronto Metropolitan and Carleton Universities.
I received my M.Sc. in Computer Engineering in 2020. During my Master's degree, I worked on Recommender Systems, specifically on a Movie Recommender System, using Deep Learning. I am interested in Applied Deep Learning and Recommendation Systems
What about fun stuff? I am a coffee enthusiast ☕. I like spending time learning about espresso-based drinks and new technologies related to espresso machines and grinders. I also love gaming 🎮, watching and playing football (or as some might call soccer) 👟⚽, and going for a walk 🚶🏽. And of course I love tech 💻📱!
